What is a MAC Address

The Media Access Control (MAC) address is a unique 12-character identifier (e.g. 00-00-00-XX-00-X0) for a specific piece of hardware, like the network adapter located in WiFi devices.

If you are using Optimum.net to register a WiFi device, you'll need to to know the device's MAC address. Registering a device allows you to access the Optimum WiFi network without having to log in.

The instructions differ slightly depending upon which version of Windows you are running. For instructions, see the appropriate section below for the version of Windows you are running.
